    Our team is extensively experienced in constructing and repairing decks, which includes the total finish, from the decking to handrails, stairs, or ramps. We have been constructing decks for more than 10 years now. Serving a wide range of both commercial and residential companies, we’ve learned from our experience, bringing this knowledge into reality in 2016 when THOMPSON CARPENTRY SERVICES was established.

  • What is the most commonly used timber for a deck?

    The most commonly used timber for decking is merbau, which gives the deck a stunning finish. Merbau is a hardwood timber, longer lasting, and requires less maintenance to keep looking good. We source nothing but the best quality decking boards and are happy to work with you and your budget to get the right timber for your job.

  • How long on average will the deck take to complete?

    The average deck will be completed from start to finish in around 2 weeks, although this varies hugely depending on other factors in the job, such as deck size, the number of carpenters involved, and any customisations to the deck, including stairs, ramps or handrails.

  • Do we have the option of painting & glossing the deck ourselves?

    Absolutely! We are happy to get it to the final stages for you with the carpentry work, and hand the finishing touches to yourself, if that’s what works for you. We are also happy to finish your deck off with a suitable paint, oil, gloss, etc. Let us know what works best for you.

  • We know we want a deck, but we’re not sure of the exact design. Are you able to help us with this design process?
