Here at Thompson Carpentry Services in Maitland, we offer home renovation services, specialising in extending existing rooms by knocking down walls to create larger living spaces.
All our services are focused around revitalising the space that you already have, creating new structures out of your home’s existing foundation. We can add features like carports and decks or rebuild a deck into a new entertainment room!

We have been doing residential small-scale renovations for 8 years now, with a passion for transforming home spaces from average to stunning. I think my favourite job was a few years ago, when a glass sliding door continued to come off the tracks and looked fairly average as a front door entry. We transformed the area through glass panels on either side to let light through and added a large glass front door. The transformation was huge, and the owners were very happy.
We recently transformed a home in Hunter Valley by removing the dividing wall and turning it into the one big living area for the family to enjoy. We also did this on another older home located in Branxton. Older homes often come with small pokey rooms throughout, and this one had a small kitchen room and small dining room. We once again removed the non-structural wall, added a bigger window, and the difference it made to the home was huge.
I (Richard Thompson) generally supervise all trades; however we will set up a meeting before your job begins and clarify what you want us to do. Even if you want to organise your own trades, I have some trustworthy and highly recommended electricians, plumbers and plasterers that work alongside us for the renovations you need.
Yes, we are definitely happy to help you out as a qualified and fully licensed carpenter, under your owner builder’s license. You can organise this with the council.
Our usual hours of operation are between 7am and 4pm, however if a job is needing to be completed faster for whatever reason we’ll work with that and put in longer hours, even completing work on weekends to make it happen on time.
